Alpine World Cup Ski Racing Weekend
<p><img src="http://z.about.com/d/skiing/1/0/p/e/-/-/vonnmancuso2.jpg" alt="cc" hspace="3" align="right" />For everyone who didn't get enough of Alpine ski racing during the <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://skiing.about.com/od/skieventscompetitions/a/2010olympics.htm">2010 Vancouver Olympics</a>, the World Cup circuit picked right up last week with the women at Crans Montana, Switzerland.</p>
<p>A scheduled Super Combined on Friday had to be cancelled due to wind and that cancellation effectively handed <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://skiing.about.com/od/skierprofiles/p/kildow.htm">Lindsey Vonn</a> the 2010 World cup Super Combined event titled based on previous points.</p>
<p>On Saturday, Lindsey Vonn locked up her third consecutive Audi FIS Alpine World Cup Downhill title with her sixth DH win this year. The victory also marked Vonn's 10th World Cup win this year to set a new American single season record. It also ties her with <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://skiing.about.com/od/skierprofiles/p/bodemiller.htm">Bode Miller</a> at 32 career World Cup victories, the most of any American.</p>
<p>On Sunday Vonn and <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://skiing.about.com/od/skierprofiles/p/juliamancuso.htm">Julia Mancuso</a> both took home medals going 2-3 respectfully, in a super G race won by Dominque Gisin of Switzerland.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the men were up in Norway at Kvitfjell racing Downhill and Super G.� Two training runs prior to the medal race were both won by <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://skiing.about.com/od/skierprofiles/p/cuche.htm">Didier Cuche</a>. so, I'm sure you won't be surprised when I tell you Cuche won the World Cup race and wrapped up the season DH event title.</p>
<p>Canadian Erik Guay who was hanging tough in the training and DH medal run, took the Gold in Sunday's Super G race. <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://skiing.about.com/od/skierprofiles/p/svindal.htm">Aksel Lund Svindal</a> had a great weekend with a second in� Saturday's Downhill and returned with a third place podium on Sunday.</p>
<p><img src="http://z.about.com/d/skiing/1/0/q/e/-/-/macartney.jpg" alt="cc" hspace="3" align="left" />It's been a long year on the road and the best the<a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://skiing.about.com/od/skiteams/a/usskiteam.htm"> U.S. Ski Team</a> men could do in the Downhill was <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://skiing.about.com/od/skierprofiles/p/nyman.htm">Steven Nyman</a> coming in at 30. In the Super G, Travis Ganong had a 28 to lead the team. <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://skiing.about.com/od/skierprofiles/p/macartney.htm">Scott Macartney</a>, who raced his first World Cup in 1999, finished the Super G in 41st and has decided this will be his last year of WC racing.</p>
<p>A�day of�rest and travel then everybody gets together in Garmisch Partenkirchen, Germany for the� Audi FIS Ski World Cup 2010 final races and trophy presentations.</p>

iPhone Apps for Skiers

<p>There are also apps, like Ski-O-Meter, which displays both your maximum and average speed, and how much distance you have covered.�� The SkiTips iPhone Apps offers skiing instruction, enabling skiers to take their skiing lessons on the slopes with them. SkiTips1 contains 30 lessons that teach all the fundamentals of skiing as well as carved turns and unweighting turns.</p>

U.S. Ski Team Olympic Recap
<p><img src="http://z.about.com/d/skiing/1/0/Y/e/-/-/bodeweibrecht.jpg" alt="cc" hspace="3" align="right" />The U.S. Olympic <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://skiing.about.com/od/skiteams/a/usskiteam.htm">Ski Team </a>wrapped up the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games with 1 Team medal and 15 individual medals, including four Gold.</p>
<p><strong>In Alpine Ski Racing</strong><br />
<a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://skiing.about.com/od/skierprofiles/p/bodemiller.htm">Bode Miller</a>, took home three medals - including a Gold in the Super G - �becoming the first American to win three Alpine medals in the same Olympic Winter Games and bringing his career total to a U.S. record of five. <a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://skiing.about.com/od/skierprofiles/p/kildow.htm">Lindsey Vonn</a>, in her third Olympics and only 25, won Gold in the downhill and Bronze in the Super G. �<a href="http://clk.about.com/?zi=1/1hc&zu=http://skiing.about.com/od/skierprofiles/p/juliamancuso.htm">Julia Mancuso</a> won two Silver medals to give her a U.S. women's record three Olympic medals.</p>
